Hello Bruin Fans,
Girls Basketball began the MIIC Tournament last night. 7th grade was eliminated in a loss to Center Grove Central. The 8th grade defeated New Augusta to advance to tomorrow morning’s quarterfinal against Fall Creek Valley. In the win, the girls rallied from an 11 point deficit at the start of the 4th quarter to win 39-33. The updated tournament field is attached to this message.
Wrestling completed the season last Saturday at the MIIC Championships. Six of our Bruin wrestlers placed at the meet. Congratulations to them on their accomplishment! They were: Axel Bonilla 5th place at 90 lbs. Nick Johnson 3rd at 120 lbs. Kiaun Fields 6th place at 145 lbs. Mekhi Green 4th place at 152 lbs. Gerren Carter 4th place at 160 lbs. and Geandre Payne 6th place at Heavyweight.
Swimming and Diving completed their season Tuesday night on in a triangle meet with Wayne Township and Heritage Christian. The boys took 2nd and the girls 3rd. That meet followed a 5th place finish at the MIIC Championships last Saturday. Individual that placed were: Mekhi Buford 6th in Boys 200 Freestyle, Jace Caldwell 8th in Boys 100 Individual Medley, Paige Trotter 8th in Girls 50 Butterfly, Lena Makris 8th in 100 Backstroke, Zion Humphrey 5th in 100 Backstroke and our Boys 4oo Freestyle Relay team took 2nd place. Great job to all of them!
Winter Athletic Awards for girls basketball, wrestling, cheerleading, and swimming and diving will be Tuesday March 10th at 5:30 PM. That same day, the Bears Athletic Club (BAC) will be providing lunch to all of our winter athletes. The BAC is asking for volunteers to help serve lunch that day. Call-out meetings for Baseball and Softball will be Wednesday March 11th. Call-out meetings for Boys Golf, Girls Tennis, and Track and Field will be Thursday, March 12th. All of those meetings will take place at 4:00. Please remember that any student who wishes to participate in athletics must first complete an IHSAA pre-participation physical and all online emergency forms. Links to both of those are available on our website.
Baseball and Softball tryouts will begin on Monday, March 16th. Track and Field conditioning will begin Monday, March 16th. Girls Tennis and Boys Golf will begin practice on Monday, March 16th.
