Hello Bruin Fans,
8th Grade Football moved to 6-0 last night with a 44-0 victory over Doe Creek. They will play their final home game next week on Wednesday vs Center Grove Central. The Trojans will come to Belzer with an undefeated record of their own. The 7th grade lost 30-22 last night to Doe Creek in their home finale. They will take a 4-2 record on the road to Center Grove Central next week.
Girls Soccer is now 8-1-1 after they played Pike Township to a tie on Tuesday and picking up a 5-1 win over Clark Pleasant on Wednesday. Boys Soccer fell 3-1 to Pike before rebounding to defeat Clark Pleasant 3-2 on Wednesday. They will both host Warren Township at Belzer on Monday. The girls game vs Eastwood that was postponed to Tuesday 9/26 will be played at 5:15 at LECC.
Our Boys Tennis team finished 4th at the MIIC Championships last weekend. The girls finished in 6th place. In competition this week, both teams fell to Fall Creek-Fishers on Tuesday before they both defeated Lynhurst 5-0 last night. In the boys win, they swept every match 8-0. That is the second time this season the boys have had such a victory.
Boys Cross Country took 5th place and the girls took 6th place at the MIIC Championships last weekend. In the boys race, Bennett Dubois was the individual winner. 5 Bruins in total took home individual awards at the race: Dubois, CJ Priddle, Dominic Daggy, Lu-Si Minnich, and Esperanza Lopez. In what was a busy week for them, the boys took 1st place and the girls took 2nd in Tuesday’s triangle race vs HSE and Fortune Academy. Last night, the boys took 2nd and the girls 3rd in a way race with Riverside, FT West, and Raymond Park. They will travel to Fall Creek Valley tomorrow for the Bearcat Invite. They will have next week off as they prepare for their final race of the season at the Marion County Championships.
7th and 8th Grade Volleyball had a busy week with three games in three days. They both lost 2-0 to HSE on Tuesday. The 7th graders also fell in matches vs New Augusta and Guion Creek while the 8th graders picked up wins in both of those conference matches.
News from Lawrence Central:
Numerous sports have begun off-season training work and Belzer students interested in playing this school year are invited to attend.
Softball workouts have been moved to Belzer’s softball field due to construction at LC. They will still take place on Wednesday afternoons.
Baseball open field workouts are held every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 4:00 at Lawrence Central.
Good Luck to the Bears, currently ranked 6th in the state, as they host Center Grove High School this evening in their homecoming game!
